When it comes to shopping for a new wireless keyboard and mouse combo the choices can be overwhelming. There are so many different styles, shapes, colors and brands to choose from that it can get confusing when you need to decide on one. However, with a few quick pointers you will be on your way to finding the perfect bundle for your situation.

First lets touch on the brands or manufacturers that make these types of products. On this website, as well as many other sites on the internet, you will find a handful of brands being reviewed and rated. Through our own testing and also comments from customers who bought these items we can confidently recommend Microsoft and Logitech combos as the best you can buy. Granted these two companies have a wide product offering in this category and it can be a job in itself to even pick one model of theirs, but even so you are likely to find what you are looking for in your price range.

Now lets discuss specific models. If you use your computer often, say for at least 3 hours per day, you may be searching for an "ergonomic" wireless keyboard and mouse that will help enhance your comfort during long hours of work and also help prevent serious long-term conditions resulting from daily computer use. If so, your best choice is the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000, being that the keyboard and mouse included in this combo are among the most popular ergonomic input devices available. If you just want a standard-style keyboard (with straight keys) you might be interested most in the Logitech LX 310 Cordless Laser Desktop, which is probably one of the best-looking bundles (for those who care about aesthetics) and is fairly inexpensive.

Other things to consider before making a purchase include the warranty offered with the package (if any), how it is going to connect to your computer (with a USB receiver or just via Bluetooth), and the location of the hot keys on the keyboard (as well as what their functions are). Have a look around our site and feel free to post comments on any models that you have a question about or would like to voice your opinion on.

The keyboard featured in this wireless keyboard and mouse combo is borderline funky-looking. Logitech may have gone a little too far with this one but its still a great bundle. To start off, the main feature you notice right away when look at this keyboard is the curved key layout. The ergonomic design and slope of the keys is there to help you be slightly more comfortable if you type a lot, and to help prevent long-term injuries from daily computer use like carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and other repetitive strain injuries (RSI). However, the shape of the keys on this keyboard does not closely resemble the ergonomic key layout of other similar keyboards. This means that if you are very accustomed to a specific ergonomic keyboard you have been using, the transition to the Logitech wave may not be seamless and may take some getting used to. We're not sure why they would do such a thing, but nonetheless this combo is sleek, sexy and gets the job done right. The keyboard also has a multitude of built-in multimedia hot keys for practically every function you could imagine. It also has the word "wave" in raised type on the space bar, and a rare feature of audio cable management guides on the underside (i.e. for headphones or a headset cord). The included pointing device is the Logitech LX8 cordless laser mouse featuring contoured sides and soft rubber grips. This mouse was built for enhanced comfort and unmatched laser precision. The system connects to your PC via a USB mini receiver like many other combos and it runs on four AA batteries. The manufacturer's part number for this package is 920-000264 and the retail price is $79.99.

This combo includes the-most ergonomic keyboard and mouse you can buy bundled together, and its made by Microsoft who claims to be "the world leader in keyboard ergonomics" (ok we'll give them that one... they really do make awesome products). This package was inspired by the standard Microsoft Natural Ergo Keyboard 4000, which is what's included in this combo only its a cordless version. The ergo 4000 keyboard is the most popular and best-selling ergonomic keyboard available right now, having replaced the classic white natural elite keyboard that started it all back in the day. The mouse included in this desktop is also very well designed, let's take a closer look at the features of each. This bundle runs on 2.4 GHz wireless technology and it communicates with your computer through a USB mini-receiver that you plug into one of your open ports. It has about a 30 foot range with little-to-no interference. The keyboards ergonomic design was crafted from years and years (posssibly decades) of research and development. The natural slope of the keys and soft palm rest ensure long lasting comfort. Right in the middle of the keyboard is a zoom feature which allows you to quickly get a closer look at open documents or web pages. It also has a whole bunch of hot keys for e-mail and internet programs,"my favorites", and some other common multimedia tasks. Also included in the box is a detachable keyboard support that allows you to adjust the height and tilt. The mouse utlilizes high definition laser technology, making it slightly smoother and more responsive than its optical counterparts. All of the slopes and crevices of the mouse allow your fingers to comfortably rest in the optimal positions. Some features include 4-way scrolling, a magnifier, instant viewer, battery life indicator and customizable buttons. In fact, this mouse has five buttons that can be programmed using the included software to perform a wide variety of functions. The part number for this wireless combo is WTA-00001 and the MSRP is $119.95.

The MX 5500 Revolution by Logitech is one of our personal favorites. Right away you are intrigued by the sleek and sexy looks of this cordless desktop. 90% of the surface area of both the keyboard and the mouse is a matte black finish and there is about 10% of glossy black accents, its pretty cool looking. One feature that drew us in was the low-profile laptop-like keys on the keyboard. They are thin and easy to push with your fingertips, but they feel elogant. The mouse also has a highly ergonomic design which makes it very comfortable to use for extended periods of time, and the soft palm rest on the keyboard really tops it off. This bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse combo works well up to 30 ft. away from the receiver (a USB receiver is included if your computer does not have built-in Bluetooth connectivity) and it includes a rapid charging stand which eliminates the need to always use regular batteries, because this is a rechargeable mouse. Logitech might go a little overboard highlighting the scroll wheel when they describe the features of the included mouse, calling it "revolutionary", but we do admit it is more enjoyable to use than most others. The official part number for this bundle is 920-000383 and the retail price is $169.99.

This device is a little different than the other products reviewed on this website because this wireless keyboard and mouse combo combines the two peripherals into one package. The keyboard in this case has a built-in 27mm trackball mouse (optical) in the top-right corner of the layout and the left and right mouse keys are in the top-left portion, which includes a scroll wheel on the edge of the keyboard. Overall the dimensions of this item are 15.1" wide x 7" deep x 1.9" thick. Usually people choose the combination keyboard/mouse devices for greater portability, since you only need to carry one thing, and when it will most frequently be used on a lap or other surface where there isn't really any space for a mousing area. This unit utilizes 2.4GHz RF wireless technology and you plug a USB receiver into your computer to connect it. The wireless connection it makes it fairly strong and you can use this up to 100ft away from the receiver. Also, the trackball has a 800 dpi resolution for greater accuracy than some other similar products, and it has the typical hot keys at the top for frequently used multimedia activities like volume control, email access and launching your web browser. This cordless keyboard and mouse combo is multiple shades of gray in different areas, the model number is WKB-3000UB, and the retail price is $79.99.

The prices of wireless keyboard and mouse combo packages vary wildly. A very basic bundle can be had for about twenty bucks, but the scale can go up to and over two-hundred dollars for the most high-tech devices. You generally get what you pay for with these... if you buy the $20 combo (Logitech and Adesso make a few in this price range) you can't exspect it to feel very extravagant or put up with much abuse. It probably won't last very long but if you need a quick fix by all means give it a try. If you're serious about computing and you're specifically looking for a high-quality wireless keyboard and mouse than expect to shell out between $50 to $100. There are dozens of models available for this cost from brands like Logitech, Microsoft and Adesso. In fact, those are really the only major players when it comes to wireless keyboards and mouse devices. You may find the odd off-brand combo stuck in the middle of a product listing, but it is advised to stick to major brands. They all offer warranties on their products, at least 1 year from the date of purchase, and you will have the peace of mind that you're using input devices that have been improved on for many years to get to where they are. The bundles that are priced over one-hundred dollars generally have advanced features like bluetooth connectivity or extra multimedia programming. Read through the reviews and specs of the keyboard and mouse combos listed on this website to get a good feel of what's out there. While you're reading be sure to vote on any combos you've tried by clicking on the star level indicator under each post, and if you feel like sharing any information or your own point of view on a product feel free to leave a comment in the text box under each post as well.

The LX 310 wireless keyboard and laser mouse by Logitech is a nice sleek combo with good reviews. The keyboard has the standard rectangle shape but with attractive black glossy highlights. Of course it also has the usual multimedia keys (functions keys) to open files, folders and applications used frequently, as well as one-touch music access. Another feature that some of the other combos don't have is convenient navigation buttons to make browsing the web a breeze. The high-performance laser mouse will work on most surfaces (except glass of course) and it includes programmable buttons and a tilt wheel for vertical and horizontal scrolling, one-touch zoom, and Windows Flip 3D. This bundle is Windows Vista™–ready, just press the Start button for direct access to the features in Vista as well as previous versions of Windows. It works off of USB RF receiver, runs on 5 batteries total, and comes with a 5-year limited hardware warranty. The Logitech part number for this set is 920-000390 and the retail price is $59.99.

The iOne® Gemini-M1A Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo is a simple, easy way for anyone to enjoy cordless flexibility. This cordless desktop is affordable, simple to set up, and provides an ideal combination of features that make everyday tasks smoother and more fun. The keyboard features 16 multimedia hotkeys including email, networking and music or videos. It is also ergonomically designed which allows for longer periods of effective operation without discomfort which minimizes fatigue and ultimately increases productivity. The optical mouse also has two hot keys of its own after you install their configuration software on your computer. It works up to five feet away from the receiver and has good accuracy (high resolution) and works on most surfaces (not glass or mirrors). Five AA batteries are usually included in the package, three for the keyboard and two for the mouse. This combo is for use with Windows® PC's only. iOne is a good value brand, but you get what you pay for so if you want high quality you need something more expensive. The color of the peripherals in this bundle is black with slight gray accents.

The Wireless Optical Desktop Pro 2.0 is an ergonomic wireless keyboard and mouse combo from Microsoft that lets you work your own way in comfort and style. You get RF wireless technology, ergonomic design, one-touch features, programmable keys, and Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer with Tilt Wheel Technology. The Tilt wheel functionality and intuitive software give you enhanced, accelerated scrolling through documents and Web pages. The natural, ergonomic design of this bundle will help relieve and reduce tension in your hands and arms during long periods of use. This posture also helps prevent repetitive stress injuries (RSI) like carpal tunnel syndrome. The keyboard and mouse are black and gray in color, the model number of this package is K48-00019, and the retail price is $99.99.
